GATHER FOR GOOD believes that each and every one of us has the power to make our communities stronger when we work together.
Even if we aren’t all marching in the streets, we’ll continue to stand in solidarity against racial injustice. We pledge to keep learning, keep sharing and keep gathering for good.
Since 2020, we raised over $72K with chefs across Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. With all your favorite pastry chefs, bakers, restaurant owners, farmers and foodies — we are here to make a stand, feed you delicious pies and support important orgs fighting for equity and justice in the BIPOC community.
For 5 years we’ve hosted charity pie sales where the most talented chefs created a beautiful array of offerings spanning across multiple counties to all stand together on this mission. We wouldn’t be able to make Pies for Justice a success year after year without the generous support of our chefs, business owners, farmers and purveyors. And thank you to all our supporters and patrons! Take a look at our wonderful past events below!
HOW IT WORKS:
This year’s fundraising events are taking place between June 19th to June 22nd.
Each chef and restaurant has prepared a unique pie offering for this fundraiser. Some will sell whole pies, pizza pies or pie slices. Others will host raffles! Full details coming soon.
Customers will purchase and pick up items directly from each chef /restaurant. Some locations will offer pre-order. Make sure to follow chefs/restaurant on Instagram to stay up-to-date especially for raffles!
Proceeds will be donated to Peace 4 Kids, an LA based non-profit dedicated to creating consistency, stability and trust for the needs of South LA youth in foster care and ACLU SoCal, working to defend the rights of ALL people.

THE IMPORTANCE OF JUNETEENTH
Every year pies for justice is hosted in celebration of juneteenth. this is a time for people to come together and recognize the importance of this holiday.
JUNETEENTH MARKS THE DATE OF JUNE 19TH, 1865, WHEN GEN. GORDON GRANGER OF THE UNION ARMY ARRIVED IN GALVESTON TEXAS, TO DEMAND THAT SLAVES BE SET FREE. TEXAS WAS ONE OF THE LAST STATES WHERE SLAVERY ENDURED DESPITE PRESIDENT LINCOLN SIGNING THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION IN 1863. FOLLOWING GRANGER’S ANNOUNCEMENT, THE FORMERLY ENSLAVED AFRICAN AMERICANS BROKE INTO CELEBRATION.
TODAY THAT CELEBRATION, SAID TO BE THE OLDEST BLACK AMERICAN HOLIDAY, IS KNOWN AS JUNETEENTH. AFRICAN AMERICANS NOT ONLY CELEBRATED THEIR FREEDOM BUT THEY ALSO EXERCISED THEIR NEW RIGHTS BY BUYING LAND ACROSS TEXAS. LEARN MORE ABOUT JUNETEENTH HERE.
